Long Island Forum

Your Voice for Nassau and Suffolk

About Long Island Forum

Long Island Forum is an independently owned digital news publication covering Nassau and Suffolk Counties. We launched in 2026 with a simple mission: give Long Islanders the straight-shooting, accountability-driven journalism they deserve.

Our Approach

We're positioned as a "slightly higher-end New York Post" for Long Island — opinionated, direct, and curt, but respectful and well-researched. We don't both-sides everything. We take clear stances on issues that matter to Long Islanders: property taxes, school quality, public safety, and government accountability.

We ask the hard questions. We demand answers from officials. We follow the money. And we speak FOR Long Islanders, not TO them.

Our Team

Bob Caldwell

Government Watchdog

Bob covers property taxes, municipal budgets, and government spending across Nassau and Suffolk. A former accountant turned journalist, he follows the money and demands transparency.

Maria Santos

Education Reporter

Maria covers schools, school boards, and education policy from a parent's perspective. A former teacher, she holds superintendents and administrators accountable for results.

Tom Brennan

Political Columnist

Tom writes about local and state politics with a Republican-leaning suburban perspective. He's covered Long Island politics for 30 years and knows where the bodies are buried.

Jennifer Lin

Community Voice

Jennifer covers development, zoning fights, environmental issues, and quality-of-life concerns. She champions community voices against overdevelopment and NIMBYism.

Mike Russo

Breaking News Reporter

Mike covers crime, accidents, and breaking news across Nassau and Suffolk. He's on the police scanner 24/7 and writes fast, factual reports on public safety incidents.

Sarah Mitchell

Generalist Reporter

Sarah covers everything else: culture, sports, lifestyle, and community events. She brings a fresh perspective to stories that don't fit in the usual boxes.
