New Hyde Park welcomed Halal Grill Eats with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, Feb. 5, 2005, as owner Jimmy Amad expanded his Queens-based restaurant operation to Nassau County.

Amad, who has operated two locations in Queens, opened his third restaurant at 1441 Jericho Turnpike. The Floral Park resident has lived in Nassau County since 2005 with his three children and extended family throughout the area.

“We’ve got the best chicken and rice, the best wings,” Amad said, “and everything’s fresh.”

The restaurant sources all meat fresh, then seasons and marinates it in-house using fresh ingredients for every dish. Amad draws on four decades of family experience in the restaurant business, handling multiple aspects of operations himself.

“I do the construction, I do the kitchen, I work outside. I’m a one-man army,” he said. “And I also have my crew.”

Amad plans to apply for a village permit to extend operating hours, aiming to serve the community around the clock. His target customers range from after-school students to families seeking dinner options to late-night diners on weekends.

“I want to stay here 24 hours, I want to be there for the community,” he said. “Let’s say, someone from New Hyde Park is working in the city or another county, at night when they come home, they need food to eat.”

The owner, whose oldest child is 13, encourages his children to pursue education so they can eventually run their own businesses. He sees halal cuisine as filling a gap among existing food options in the area.

Amad expressed confidence in his product quality and customer service approach.

“Come, eat your food. If you don’t like it, you don’t pay,” he said. “If you do like it, tell your friends and family to stop by.”
